Skin Care Treatment for Common Skin Conditions

Shunli Chen | December 20, 2011

A glowing and healthy skin is an asset. Skin is not all about beauty but also health. So, skin care treatment should be treated with all seriousness. If you develop a skin related dilemma, you need an appropriate skin care treatment. Skin care treatment, for any skin disorder, starts with actions that are aimed at prevention of the disorder (what we can also call as proactive or preventive skin care treatment). Building and following basic skin care procedures is what one could classify as preventive/proactive skin care treatment. Skin disorders can occur even if you have followed this preventive skin care treatment. Preventive skin care treatment just reduces the probability of occurrence. Let’t check the skin care treatment for some of the common skin conditions.

Acne is one of the most common problems. Again, the first type of skin care treatment is to control acne and prevent it from getting worse. So avoid tight clothes; they are known to cause body acne by trapping sweat. Do not touch the blemishes over and over again (rather don’t touch them at all), you might end up aggravating the condition. Also, do not try to scrub too hard or squeeze them. Use of mild cleansers is a recommended skin care treatment for acne. Obtain an over-the-counter skin care treatment for faster treatment of acne.

Skin care treatment of dry skin is generally easy. Moisturisers, applied in the right way and in the right quantity, are the best form of skin care treatment for dry skin. For best results, apply moisturiser while your skin is still damp. Also, do not apply too much or too little moisturiser. In exceptional cases, where you don’t notice any improvements in 3-4 weeks, you might have to visit your dermatologist for skin care treatment of your dry skin.

Brown spots, which appear on sun-exposed areas of skin i.e. face and hands, are caused by over-exposure to UV radiations. As a skin care treatment for brown spots, use a sunscreen lotion which has a high SPF (sun protection factor), say 15. This should be used irrespective of weather sunny/cloudy. Another form of skin care treatment is covering up the exposed areas with clothing (caps, full sleeved shirts/t-shirts, and umbrella).

Also, if the general skin care treatment or the over-the-counter medication is not working for you, you should immediately consult your dermatologist for professional skin care treatment. You should also inform the doctor about the skin care treatment that you have undertaken till that time. So take the details of the till-date skin care treatment (and products) along with you. Based on the skin condition and the details of your till-date skin care treatment, the dermatologist will prescribe a skin care treatment e.g. oral antibiotics, chemical peels, retinoid etc and you will be on your way to recovery.

Explanation About Sunless Tanning And What Is Its Mode Of Operation

Haywood Hunter | November 26, 2011

Quite some time ago, having a tanned body was all about lying down for long under the sun. However, new age products have made it possible without this excruciating ordeal. These products can provide the required tan within much lesser time as required for conventional tanning. This is known as sunless tanning and has been around for a while now.

Best Self Tanning Lotion

These products get absorbed in the skin without any issue. Sensitivity of different types of skin may dictate how easily these get absorbed in individual cases. For instance, feet absorb them pretty faster than other parts of the body. It is always a smart idea to go through the directions of their usage before starting to use them. Information on the best ways in which these can be used is given here.

The major component in most of the gels, sprays and lotions used for tanning is dihydroxyacetone (DHA). Plants are the major sources of this compound which can result in certain reactions that cause darkening of skin. Depending on the skin type of the individual using them, the darkening effect can stay for around six to eight days.

It has been possible to extend the duration of the tan with addition of a chemical called erythrulose. This makes the tanning products more potent, increasing their effectiveness and duration of tan. Due to their increased duration of tan, products based on their combination are more preferred over others.

Before applying any of these lotions, gels or sprays on the body, one should test them on a patch of skin first. One may come to know whether the skin receives it well or not. This is essentially needed for prevention of infection on the whole body. One can get these lotions applied on the body with the help of someone else. Alternatively, a spray can be applied without much help from anybody.

One may find a number of such spas where the tanning products are applied by expert technicians. These spas use modern appliances to apply the tan on the body. FDA guidelines are followed by them invariably, but the same needs to be checked out as well. One may seek details about the procedure of applying tan, if desired.

To get a tan instantaneously, one may consider temporary bronzers. The dark tan obtained with these is pretty impressive. However, it must be prevented from getting in contact with water or else, it may get ruined.

Thus, contact of water with the tan ought to be prevented to avoid ruining of the tan. Apart from that, it can also come off when it comes in touch with clothes. So, the decision about which clothes to wear when the tan is on needs to be made with some planning.

These are ideal for temporary sunless tanning at short notice or for certain occasions. Water is known to cause fading and the tan gets lighter every time water is applied to it.

Before you buy anything online, make sure you check Sunlabs specials on sunless tanning. Sun Laboratories also has a great specials on self tanner products.

Using food as alternative medication to heal ageing skin can work better than normal cosmetics

Sander Shotnick | October 27, 2011

When people talk of alternative medication, they generally think about some exotic plants snuggled deep in the Amazon jungle or high up in the mountains of Tibet. But the truth is that we have deviated so a long way from natural solutions that alternative medication may make reference to the foods in our refrigerator and cupboards. So next time you look in the mirror and believe that your skin looks a little lifeless, turn to food to make it better. Where to begin? Try palmitoleic acid, often referred to as Omega seven. It is a power packed fatty acid that can help with a plethora of skin issues like wrinkling, spots and ageing.

What is Palmitoleic Acid?

Palmitoleic acid is a monounsaturated fatty acid with one double bond (C16:1). The double bond suggests that it'll go rancid faster than some of the saturated fatty acids like Palmitic or Stearic acid. It'll go on longer than the polyunsaturated trans acids like linoleic or gamma-linoleic trans-acids. It is also known as an Omega-7 greasy acid.

How does Palmitoleic Acid Help Our Skin?

Latterly Omega-7 has become the darling of the skin protection industry. Little was commonly known about it but we've found that palmitoleic acid is one of the fundamental components in our skin so helping to prevent wounds, scratches and burns. It is found in both the sebum and in our fatty tissues. It's the most active anti-microbial in sebum and helps injuries from getting infected. Palmitoleic acid production in our skin declines as we grow older, but by topically applying palmitoleic acid, we can help mature or dry skin with staying moisturized and flexible. We also augment the anti-microbial action of our sebum. Palmitoleic acid has antioxidant properties and can also offer some protection against the sun’s dangerous UV rays. So palmitoleic acid and skin essentially go together.

Palmitoleic acid is especially good at healing mucous surfaces which line the nose, throat, stomach track and female urine passage and genital areas. This has promising implications both when taken internally and when applied topically to mucous surfaces. And some studies have proven that palmitoleic acid has a role in the oxidization of fats and that it may be beneficial in the struggle against body weight issues.

What Oils are High in Palmitoleic Acid?

We will get palmitoleic acid in a selection of foods including sea oils, plant oils and animal oils.

Some of the oils high in Palmitoleic acid include:

– Sea buckthorn oil (36%) Has a shelf life of about one year
– Macadamia nut oil (twenty p.c.) Has a storability of roughly one year
– Jojoba oil (2%) Has a shelf life of roughly 2 years
– Sweet almond oil (2 percent) Has a shelf life of about 1 year

So before you turn to a tablet or chemical solution to help with your skincare needs , try turning to nature. Even though it’s ironic that using natural products whould now be known as alternative medication, we like our possibilities. So three cheers for nature and all of her bounty.

Sander Shotnick practices alternative medicine by using natural remedies and organic skin care. He also eats entire, natural foods and exercises continually.
