Choosing and Fitting the Right Shoe For Your Child
Jackson Lee | July 30, 2011Most often you may end up buying incorrect pair of shoes that may not only burn your wallet but also hurt your feet. Using such inappropriate shoes will increase your foot problems and cause foot ailments. Such foot problems can be prevented from happening by wearing the right pair of shoes. The foot wear may vary depending on the activity, foot type and body type.
As a first step, it is important to assess and learn about your arch profile. The 3 common arch profiles are Normal arch, flat arch and high arch. Identify your arch type by observing your footprint with full attention. If you find your foot print to be half arch, then you might have a normal arch. If you have a normal arched foot, then you could use the most common type of shoes. Because arched foot is versatile and balanced. However, if your activity involves running or walking, then you might have to look for stability shoes. If you are a light weight runner, then a moderate cushion shoe or other shoes with moderate features would be ideal for you.
If the footprint shows your entire foot, it means you have a low arch or flat arch. With respect to this arch type; the inner side of the foot is not well supported. Therefore, a motion controlled shoe is well suited for this type of arch as it can aid in the prevention of inward pronation.
If you noticed the shoes just show the ball and heel of the foot as footprint, then it is known as high arch shoe. In this case, a cushion type of shoe will be chosen for high arch and this does not actually absorb the shock. Therefore, you need a cushion shoe to aid in order to restore the natural inward pronation.
For skinny ankles; bulky or chunky shoes are a strict no-no. Not only will these look oversize; they will prove to a complete mismatch with your body type. Delicate shoes with elegant heels (optional) and pointed toes would be an ideal choice. For ankles that are thicker; a bolder shoe will be able to match and balance the ankle width. Ankle straps or heels with curves should be avoided.
Before you shop boots, make sure that the boots fits well on the calf of the legs. Also, identify whether the boots match with the leg shape. A thick heeled boots will help you balance the looks if you have a larger body frame. But make sure not to war ankle straps because it may get your legs to appear shorter. If your legs are medium to short then you mules and thongs would be perfect for your feet. Keep away from shoes that are prick as it may affect your feet very badly.
While shopping walking shoes, make sure the front portion of the shoes are flexible and bend easily. Try wearing those shoes and test whether you are able to move your toes freely. Figure out whether the heel is properly cupped inside the shoe. This way the shoe will offer adequate cushioning and stability. Also, find out whether the heels are supported well. You can do it by leaning your heels on the shoes and assessing its support. It is always wiser to buy those shoes with thick tongue as it may help in protecting your feet from the friction that is caused due to laces. If you want to secure the Achilles tendon while running, it is important to buy a shoe with a padding on the ankle collar.
