How to Increase Short Term Memory

Austin Baker | January 27, 2010

Short term memory and ‘neurobics’ are two things which you might not normally associate. ‘Neurobics’ are akin to aerobics, which are used to exercise your whole body. Similarly, neurobics are exercises which should be regularly engaged in so that your brain gets the exercise which is requires to maintain itself.

If you are someone that follows a routine day after day, this is going to create some fun as well as some chaos in your world. Neurobics are fascinating to explore because they allow you to use all five of your senses to exercise your brain and improve your short term memory. At the same time it allows you to explore your emotional senses and to see how they should all be able to work together.

You will also grow new brain cells which is important for your overall mental well being. There are some really fun activities you can try that fall into the category of neurobics.

Alternatively, you must focus on other body motions in order to communicate. Neurobics also includes a category of activities which require you to explore two ideas at the same time. This, however, is not exactly comparable to multi-tasking. You’ll need to perform two tasks which still permit your mind to explore things creatively. One example is to listen to music and create art at the same time. Everyone does many different routine activities which we’re not usually conscious of.

We take part in them without thinking about doing it differently and this can affect short term memory. This form of neurobics involves changing those normal routines. Do you usually clean the kitchen first in your home? If so, then save it for last this weekend. Do you always start your day the same way? Identify which hand is dominant and then decide for an entire day to do everything with your other hand.

These things will enhance our appreciation of the power of our brains in accomplishing what is does every day. We need to start questioning why it is that we do what we do instead of simply going along in our routines. Once you start your exploration through neurobics, you’ll gain an understanding of why you should change things, and how to do so, so that your brain is constantly learning and developing.

If you are tired of dealing with short term memory loss for in your life,, then you can find a simple natural way to improve your memory by checking out this blog here.

Improve Concentration Skills – Using Nothing But Your Own Memory

Austin Baker | January 24, 2010

When we are children, we are naturally creative and as we focus on one thing, we develop concentration skills that allow us to focus on one thing for long periods of time. However, as we grow and age, those efforts and abilities begin to fade away. We find ourselves not wanting to be artistic, to draw or paint and we certainly aren’t open to having that work criticized by others when we do get creative.

Therefore we end up creating what we think society will approve of rather than what we really want to. We begin to think we have to commit to many things all at once and this makes our concentration skills suffer as a result of it. When you use your hands to stimulate the brain, you will be able to draw and to paint freely. Also you’re focusing in on one activity and not several at the same time.

A great way to start this important process is by doodling in the margins of your papers when you are deep in thought. Forcing yourself ot focus on only one activity will allow you to develop and refine those very important concentration skills. The idea focuses around keeping your hands moving constantly, and doodling is a good start if you are unable to think of anything else to draw or write when you first begin.

With this process, as information flow into your consciousness you will be able to write it down. It is important as you work through this process to keep your brain stimulated. Knitting, sewing and weaving are all also excellent activities to help with this process. Not only will you make useful and lovely things using your hands in this manner, but the activity will also serve to stimulate your brain.

If you don’t have any particular kinds of things you like to do, take a trip to the nearest craft store and wander through. It’s a guarantee that something will grab your attention and interest! Be sure and stay focused on the idea that whatever you decide to do the long term results will be your brain activity being stimulated. A lot of people have found that by using their hands to create stimulation to the brain they also have a great release of tension as well.

The benefits to your brain, your ability to focus, your stress level and your overall well-being will be well worth the effort that you put in. Many people have found that, while they were focusing on these busy hand activities they came up with some fantastic ideas. It just goes to show how your concentration skills and focusing can be improved with this method. Rather than fighting scattered thoughts and an inability to focus, you will be able to let go of the constant multi-tasking and enjoy being able to focus on just one thing.
